Volunteer Coordinator

Bethesda, Maryland
Position Purpose:

Assures the management and coordination of volunteers and volunteer services in compliance with agency policy and state regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Manage all aspects of the volunteer program, including needs assessments, staff support and supervision, recruitment, training, evaluation, screening, matching, retention and recognition efforts.
 
  • Track and report volunteer hours and volunteer activities on a monthly basis to the data manager.
 
  • Develop efforts to expand community awareness and support of programs by participating in special events, volunteer fairs, and various speaking engagements.
 
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for volunteer events and days of service
 
  • Participate in the holiday giving program including the scheduling of volunteer activities, and soliciting and processing gifts with the In-Kind Specialist
 
  • Assists in planning special fundraising events which utilize volunteers.
 
  • Other duties as assigned.


Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Qualifications:
 
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with business or human service experience or equivalent of professional experience.
 
  • Possession of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentations and to serve diverse populations.
 
  • Ability to work independently to maintain office management procedures and function with a wide range of personalities among staff, volunteers and residents.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM’s.
  • An attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of the National Center for Children and Families.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. Employee is required to be able to lift at least 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required y this job require close vision working with a computer monitor. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the responsibilities of the employee’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter. Salary: $60,000 - $65,000
