ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Implementation:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities, workshops, and projects that align with the program's goals and objectives.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages youth engagement, collaboration, and creativity.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program schedules, ensuring a balance between academic support, recreational activities, and enrichment opportunities.
Mentoring and Support:
- Build positive relationships with youth participants, serving as a role model and mentor.
- Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help youth develop social skills, resilience, and self-confidence.
- Offer academic assistance and homework help, reinforcing and extending classroom learning.
Behavior Management:
- Establish clear expectations and boundaries for behavior, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
- Implement behavior management strategies that promote positive behavior and address challenging behaviors.
- Foster conflict resolution skills and teach appropriate problem-solving techniques to youth participants.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with program staff, teachers, and parents to ensure the holistic development of youth.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on participant progress and address any concerns.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Program Evaluation and Documentation:
- Collect data and maintain accurate records of participant attendance, behavior, and program outcomes.
- Assist in program evaluation efforts, including surveys, assessments, and feedback collection from participants and stakeholders.
- Contribute to program reports and documentation to support program improvement and funding requirements.
QUALIFICATION:
• Must have completed at least one year of college in good academic standing or have experience in education: as a Youth Development Counselor.
• Solid Commitment to the success and wellbeing of all children.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Exhibit positive behavior and attitude, modeling a mature and professional demeanor.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, run, twist, kneel, and climb. The employee is required to utilize hand and eye coordination and manual agility. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Salary: $20/hour
