Residential Services Manager

Bethesda, Maryland

Position Purpose:

Responsible for providing day-to-day supervision/coordination and scheduling of the residential support and childcare staff, while providing management of the program’s operations, ensuring a safe and healthy living environment.  Ensures that residential and childcare have an understanding/sensitivity to the complex issues experienced by families that reside in the shelter, such as domestic violence issues and other trauma related concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Provides for the overall coordination/supervision and scheduling of the residential support staff, and ensures that there is staff coverage around the clock.
  • Serves as the contact person for Facility Maintenance (DPWT) and reports needed repairs.
  • Oversees proper physical management of the residential building and provides timely reports of facility maintenance issues. Assures cleanliness and safe environments are maintained.
  • Ensures food services are compliant with MSDE requirements.  Provides oversight of food and supplies.
  • Ensures the completion of intakes for all residents.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to the residential and childcare staff. Conducts monthly staff meetings ensuring implementation of program rules.
  • Submits employee performance evaluations in a timely fashion and in accordance with agency standards.
  • Coordinates resident chores and other daily living activities required.
  • Issues verbal and written warnings to residents regarding violations of GTS rules.
  • Ensures staff participation in trainings and all mandatory agency meetings.
  • Maintains annual, ongoing, and accurate statistical information on all residents.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Contributes to and maintains procedures to ensure general safety of residents at all times.
  • Participates in case reviews, staff and other Agency meetings.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Assists with the recruitment and selection of residential staff and substitutes as assigned.
  • Transports residents during recreational activities.
  • Conducts random breathalyzer tests.
  • Assists in community and public educational activities.

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field. May be waived with two years’ prior residential experience.
  • One year of relevant residential experience.Exceptional teamwork orientation with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstration of cross cultural competencies
  • Orientation toward case advocacy
  • Must possess an attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of NCCF.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required y this job require close vision working with a computer monitor. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Salary: $45,000 - $49,000
