Bilingual Spanish-Speaking Mental Health Therapist

Position Purpose:

Provides therapeutic services to high school students and their families, including assessment, diagnosis, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention. This position is responsible for contributing to contract-mandated outcome tracking, productivity reporting, and high standards of clinical documentation in accordance with County and state regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Conducts comprehensive intake and diagnostic assessments using County-approved tools.
     
  • Delivers individual, family, and group therapy services using evidence-based or promising clinical interventions.
     
  • Coordinates referrals for psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychological testing, or specialty behavioral health care when needed.
     
  • Provides services to uninsured/underinsured youth and families and those facing language, transportation, or financial barriers.
     
  • Ensures access for individuals with Limited English Proficiency through bilingual service delivery or coordination with interpreters.
     
  • Delivers in-person services on-site (school, home, community), and virtually via HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms when clinically or logistically appropriate.
     
  • Meets with each therapy client at least three times monthly during the school year and twice monthly during the summer, unless less frequent sessions are clinically indicated and documented.
     
  • Maintains a minimum caseload of 19 clients (school year) and 12 clients (summer).
     
  • Conducts weekly or biweekly therapy groups when appropriate; groups of 8+ weeks may count as weighted caseload equivalents.
     
  • Maintains at least 65% of work hours in direct service; submit a corrective plan if this standard is not met quarterly.
     
  • Utilizes the County-approved outcome measurement platform to track symptom improvement, completing assessments on the prescribed schedule.
     
  • Uses County-approved consent forms and complete documentation within 2 business days in the County’s electronic health record system.
     
  • Participates in outreach to reduce stigma and improve therapy enrollment among students and families.
     
  • Obtains clinical supervision as required by COMAR and licensing boards.
     
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Collaborates with school staff, care managers, youth development specialists, and families to ensure continuity of care.
     
  • Adheres to all COMAR regulations and Maryland licensing board standards.
     
  • Participates in supervision or provides supervision to interns (if licensed and approved).
 
  • Participates in all DHHS and COMAR required trainings.
 
  • Serves as an advocate for high school adolescent needs.
 
  • Presents and writes professionally in the field of adolescent treatment.

Minimum Position Requirements:
 
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
     
  • Current Maryland licensure required (LMSW or LPC) at time of hire.
     
  • Minimum 1 years of experience with adolescents; school-based experience strongly preferred.
     
  • Experience with outcome-based care, electronic records, and data reporting platforms.
     
  • Background clearance required per DHHS policy.
     
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
 
  • Demonstration of cross-cultural competencies.
 
  • Willingness to lead and advocate in the best interest of adolescents.
 
  • An attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of the National Center for Children and Families.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities include close vision with a computer monitor. Salary: $65,000 - $73,000 Annually
