Seasonal Saturday Day School Teacher

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Teacher Position is responsible for providing supervision, engagement, and instructional lessons for participants, in accordance with program guidelines and expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum for academic activities.
  • Provide instruction to assigned grade and subject, adapting teaching methods to suit the needs and abilities of individual scholars.
  • Teach fundamental skills, techniques, rules, and strategies in various subjects, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assess scholars progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and reach their potential.
  • Promote leadership, teamwork, and fair play among scholars, emphasizing the importance of integrity and respect.
  • Plan and organize engaging drills, activities, and games that promote skill development, teamwork, and enjoyment.
  • Ensure the safety of scholars during academic activities by enforcing rules and implementing proper safety measures.
  • Collaborate with Site Coordinator and School staff to coordinate schedules, share resources, and create a well-rounded out of school time experience.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about scholars' progress, achievements, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Serve as a positive role model for scholars, showing enthusiasm, leadership, and a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Encourage parents to participate in Parent Engagement Activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Curriculum & Instruction, English (Reading), Mathematics, Physical Education, or a related field, or previous teaching experience, preferably in elementary or middle school.
  • Strong knowledge of academic activities, lesson planning, teaching strategies, and techniques for different age groups.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with scholars, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to coordinate academic activities.
  • Additional certifications in academic subjects or recreational activities are a plus.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to utilize hand and eye coordination and manual agility. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the responsibilities of the employee’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter. Salary: $30/hour
