Early Childhood Interventionist

POSITION PURPOSE:
Early Childhood Interventionist: Works with students individually and in small groups, reinforcing daily lessons, motivating learning, assessing progress, assisting with classroom management and collaborating with Nalle Classroom teachers and administrators. In an effort to target academic deficiencies and increase student Performance. The Early Childhood Interventionist will target students Pre-K to Second Grade.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates in the implementation of the daily lesson plans by performing tasks that reinforce learning.
  • Assists the teacher in regularly observing students and taking anecdotal notes to inform planning, arrangement of small groups, the set-up of the classroom and interest areas, and assessments.
  • Partners with classroom teachers to maintain accurate student records.
  • Works closely with students who may require individual support close attention. Assists the teacher with the development of individualized programs.
  • Reads to students, listens to and writes down their dictations, and models language by conversing with students throughout the day, while also encouraging studentsconversations between each other when appropriate.
  • Works with groups of students engaged in drawing, writing, centers, or similar work while the teacher is otherwise occupied.
  • Assists in the administration of the instructional plan for students with disabilities. Addresses multiple intelligences of each student through lesson plans and materials. Infuses culturally relevant, anti-bias materials and pedagogical strategies.
  • Maintains on-going communication with families.
  • Implements a variety of instructional groupings of students (small group and cooperative learning).
  • Participates in NCCF Community School’s sponsored activities.
  • Collaborates with DCPS School Administrators and Teachers.

QUALIFICATION:
  • High School Diploma; Two years of college preferred with Education Background.
  • Experience working with young children.
  • Experience with helping children grow developmentally,
  • Experience implementing interventions to early childhood students.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, run, twist, kneel, and climb. The employee is required to utilize hand and eye coordination and manual agility. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. 

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000
